This morning we visited an arctic museum and became more educated on the two polar regions of the world. The tour guide and museum curator had been on many arctic expeditions himself and had collected every one of the thousands of artifacts and replicas himself.
In the afternoon, the ladies of the group visited Nautor Swan- the most prestigious yacht making company in the world. We had a chance to go inside some multi million dollar vessels. After that we went for a polar swim. Well, it was more like a polar dip. In and out of the almost frozen ocean inlet and into a hot sauna, then back into the frigid water once we were hot again. The Finns claim this is a very healthy activity- great for circulation. Many of them do it almost every day. The consensus was that we all enjoyed it and felt great afterwards- though it was a bit of a shock going in at first!

I'm pretty much of a slug when it comes to exercise/activity ... but I'll bet I could get out of that "ocean inlet" in record time !!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on giving it a try !!
